Turning waste into wonder products.

In our infused marine plus biochar pellets we are combining the waste from New Zealand fisheries and farms to create a soil friendly biological mix. Each bag will contain approximately 1.5-2Kg of biochar, sequestering approximately 3-3.5Kg CO2.

A great source of slow release nitrogen, both wool and biochar can also offer dynamic moisture management. During periods of heavy rainfall, wool pellets soak up excess moisture, preventing waterlogging and root damage. Conversely, in times of drought, they release stored moisture back into the soil, ensuring that plants have a consistent water supply. Biochar can provide hosting to friendly soil microbes creating a healthier soil especially when paired with the slow nitrogen release of the wool.

The science

Whilst we await the results of our research trials of our own pellets with Lincoln Agritech, we rely on the science of the individual product ingredients. We are not only confirming the growing power of these pellets, but next year aim to duplicate our inhouse lab results showing the potential for reduced nitrate leaching in field.

Wool, fish waste and biochar have all been shown to increase biological activity in soil and improve both soil and plant health.

Biochar has shown promise in nitrate reduction and treatment of various crop issues. The review “The Suppressive Effects of Biochar on Above‐ and Belowground Plant Pathogens and Pests” analysed 117 case studies (2015-2022) and reported suppression efficiencies of ~86% for fungal pathogens, ~96% for bacteria, ~100% for oomycetes and viruses, and ~50% for nematodes in those studies. Studies have been done for onion blight, Ralstonia solanacearum bacterial wilt, Fusarium wilt and more.
